Welcome to Day Twenty Five of 31 days of Sensory Play.
Children are really curious. My son is going through a draw on anything and everything phase at the moment. It’s hard work reminding him that just because the paper ends you can’t keep going on the table ! Being the third of three you’d think I would be used to this situation. However, he’s the first one to continue doing it regularly. Just can’t seem to break it. ( If you have any tips I would love to hear)
Kids want to do what we are doing.
The wood was scrap and the bits and pieces were found around the house or bought in the discount section of the local DIY shop.
After assembling everything I left it out as an invitation to play. As a curious kid he spotted it right away.
With lots of things to lift, pull, push, lever he spent a long time investigating everything. Using real life things that he recognised was important. How else do you get used to locks and hooks?
The LO got to be a grown up. Designing and making it was simple. Why not give it a try?
- What activities can you share that make them curious and want to investigate.
